Another 17 Best Side Hustle Ideas for 2024

We’ve covered 20 about the best side hustle ideas for 2024 last post, and today we’re covering 17 more!

1. Flipping Concert Tickets

Have you heard about the Taylor Swift ticket fiasco at the end of 2022? Fans quickly bought up all tickets to her more than 50 shows across the country, causing the Ticketmaster website to crash. Many of these tickets are now listed at higher prices on resale sites like StubHub.com and VividSeats.com.

While it may feel unethical to scalp concert tickets, there is money to be made in this hustle. In most cases, you have to be willing to put some money up front to purchase tickets so that you know the show will sell out. From there, list them on resale sites at competitive prices and wait to sell.

2. Nanny

Babysitting other people’s children is another way to make $15 to $25 an hour in your spare time. This is another hustle you might be able to get through someone you already know, but you can also create a profile on Care.com to look for job opportunities in your area.

3. Join a gig on Fiverr

Do you have some basic writing or editing skills? Maybe you enjoy designing newsletters or have a knack for graphic design.

Regardless, a website called Fiverr.com can help you find gig jobs you can do from home. While you may charge lower rates when you start out (even as low as $5 per gig on Fiverr), professionals who work regularly on Fiverr can increase their rates over time.

4. Write an e-book

If you have a story idea or are naturally creative, you can write a book using Microsoft Word or Google Docs and turn it into a product you can sell using CreateSpace.com. The platform helps you format your books so you can sell them as e-books, eliminating the hassle of printing and storing your books.

While you may only make $7 to $20 per book sold, the good news with ebooks is that you only have to do the work once and you can sell it over and over again. CreateSpace offers additional features like direct Kindle publishing and print-on-demand, so there’s no limit to where this hustle can take you.

5. Teach English online

If you have been a teacher in the past or are currently teaching, you may be able to teach English to international students online on a part-time basis. Helping facilitate this process is VIPKid.com, which claims its teachers can earn $14 to $22 an hour working from home.

VIPKid.com allows you to set your work hours and free time, just like other side hustles on this list. This means you can only use the platform to work on the days you want, especially since the platform has no minimum working hours.

6. Take and sell photos

Do you like taking pictures? If so, you can use your skills and expertise to take professional photos to sell later.

In fact, many websites are constantly looking for new photos to sell for online use. This includes sites like Depositphotos and iStockPhoto, both of which buy high-quality photos and video clips that meet their specifications.

7. Start a painting business

Starting a painting company is a great way to earn part-time or full-time income. This is especially true now given that many labor-intensive jobs are extremely difficult to fill.

You can try joining painting gigs through your local network, but you can also set up a profile on ThumbTack.com. Not only is Thumbtack free for you to use, but you also get technical support and the platform handles all payments on your behalf.

8. Become a proofreader

If you’re looking for an easy way to make $1,000 or more per month, proofreading can provide you with stable employment. This job, which requires you to read content carefully to check for spelling and grammatical errors, typically pays $15 to $25 per hour.

If you’re curious about how to find a job as a proofreader, you can check out courses on sites like ProofreadAnywhere. The site even offers free workshops so you can find out if you have what it takes to become a professional proofreader.

9. Create an online course

Maybe you have a special skill or talent that you want to pass on to others, whether it’s baking beautiful pastries or investing profitably. In either case, you can create an online course once and sell it to people over and over again.

Platforms like Teachable.com make this process easy, as they can host your courses and handle payments on your behalf. According to the platform, some of the most popular courses currently on sale cover the following topics:

• Pottery

• Watercolor painting

• Cake baking and decorating

• foreign language

•           graphic design

You can also charge whatever you want for the course, so the profit potential is unlimited.

10. Flipping websites for profit

If you have an eye for value and have some knowledge of digital real estate, you can make money flipping websites and domains. An online marketplace called Flippa.com makes reselling a breeze as it allows you to list your site and solicit offers from potential buyers.

You can buy or sell any existing domain name or revenue-generating website. Of course, you’ll ultimately make the most money by selling premium domains and already profitable websites.

11. Start a podcast

Podcasts have become another popular source of income for many online entrepreneurs, and it’s easy to see why. After all, it’s fairly easy to set up a podcast and record it yourself, and you can take the time to grow your audience organically without spending a ton of money up front.

Once your podcast has a large enough reach, you can start monetizing it with sponsorships and paid advertising. If you’re looking for an example, my own podcast is a success story worth checking out.

12. Create a YouTube channel

If you enjoy speaking in front of the camera and don’t mind appearing in videos, starting a YouTube channel can also help you make more money. The interesting thing about YouTube is that you can also repurpose recorded video content into podcasts. With that in mind, this side hustle can do “double duty” and help you make more money over time.

Again, I know from personal experience that this side hustle works. I started my Wealth Hacker YouTube channel a few years ago and now have over 400,000 subscribers.

My How to Make Money on YouTube guide will help you do exactly what I did, so be sure to check it out!

13. Become a handyman

You might also consider working as a handyman in your spare time if you have skills that translate well to homeownership. You may be asked to complete tasks including hanging a flat-screen TV, replacing light fixtures, and assembling small furniture. However, you can only do the work you want and set your rates.

ThumbTack.com is once again a great place to create a profile and find handyman jobs. You can also look for gigs on sites like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.org and ask people you know if they need help.

14. Start a pool cleaning service

If you want a job that allows you to spend time outdoors, you might also consider starting a pool cleaning business. This is another way you can advertise your services on sites like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.org, or seek work from pool owners you may already know.

ThumbTack.com is another platform that can help you get pool cleaning and service jobs.

15. Donate plasma

If you have some free time and don’t mind getting poked with needles, donating plasma can help you make some easy money. You can find places to donate plasma using the DonatingPlasma.org website. Many donation centers pay up to $100 for your first donation and $50 for each donation thereafter.

While you can only donate plasma a few times a week, you can make hundreds of dollars a month with this effort.

16. Test new products

If you’re willing to test new products or services in your spare time, this is another way to make money. You’ll find a variety of websites that can help you connect with shows. Some of the best include:

• Opinions of US consumers

• Influencers

• Pine cone research

• User testing

• Vendale Research

In most cases, testing products and services is easy. You usually have to create an account online, and you can agree to test the product or service and answer questions afterward. You won’t make a lot of money with this side hustle, but you might make $5 to $10 an hour, depending on how dedicated you are.

17. Hauling trash

Many people have piles of trash to deal with, which is why you’ll find trash hauling companies everywhere. When people move from one location to another, there are other items that need to be moved, including furniture or hot tubs.

Either way, a transportation business is easy to start; all you need is a truck and some extra people. You can advertise by printing business cards or providing a profile on ThumbTack.com. You can also use sites like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist.org to see who may be in need of help locally.
